Mission & Goals of NCOPE


Mission

NCOPE develops, applies, and assures standards for orthotic and prosthetic education through accreditation and approval to promote exemplary patient care.

Goals

  1. To ensure adequate education for future generations of O&P professionals, foster growth in the quality and quantity of faculty
  2. Complete the transition leading to the master's degree as the entry-level education for orthotics and prosthetics professionals
  3. To ensure that O&P programs are comparable in quality and effectiveness, standardize accreditation and approval processes by writing more thorough and descriptive standards
  4. Establish and implement mechanisms for the continual improvement of residency.
  5. Explore means of strengthening staff capacity so that NCOPE can continue to respond to an expanding agenda and a changing health care environment.
  6. Manage, develop, and expand appropriate alliances.
